Short profile

Andriy Lyubka is a Ukrainian novelist, poet, translator, and essayist.

My name is Andriy Lyubka. I am addressing you from the city of Chernivtsi in Ukraine. This is not my city, I found myself here by force and by accident because on Thursday morning I woke up in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, where I was on business and where I was caught in the war.

Almost a day after the terrible apocalypse and exodus, I returned to my family and met them here in Chernivtsi.

During these four days, the belief has grown that everything has changed and the previous life, the one we knew once, was lost and those who lived it have changed.

If I can briefly describe what is happening today, it reminds me of the apocalypse. It reminds me of a Hollywood horror film in which zombies crawl from all holes and from all sides, trying to destroy a normal life, to destroy a normal, calm, non-aggressive European country — Ukraine.

This is the film "Alien", when Russian saboteurs and terrorists, ignoring all the laws, all the rules of warfare, change into civilian clothes, change into Ukrainian uniforms of firefighters and make their way in civilian cars to the city centers and commit terrorist attacks and sabotage. They shoot at civilian homes. They shoot buses that take people out of the war zone. They do not allow ambulances that could help the wounded.

This is not an army-to-army-war — it is an absolutely vile, rapacious and anti-human military terrorist campaign of the Putin regime.

And I want to ask everyone around the world — please appeal to your governments, protest against silence, protest against the sluggish reaction to the war in Ukraine.
It must be stopped. Because today we see that Vladimir Putin's regime does not stop before any rules or moral laws. It has absolutely no dignity and they are ready for anything.

They have captured the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, and I am sure that if necessary, they are ready to carry out the most horrific sabotage not only against Ukraine and Ukrainians but also against Europe and the rest of the world.

This vandal must be stopped.
Protect Ukrainians!
Provide them with shelter!

Meet Ukrainian refugees! Donate money to humanitarian aid and please ask your governments to react as soon as possible to defend Ukraine, and to impose the maximum economic sanctions against Russia. This is no longer business, this is an act of mindless violence.

We are being killed! Every minute is a human life.
